So reports were right and the new C-class was unveiled to the public today and what a car it is! Even all the spy shots and leaked images on the web haven’t taken away any of my excitement and seeing the car in official photos is exciting! Okay I’ll calm down…
As promised here are some more specifications of the new car. Firstly there is another engine option available being the C300 BlueTec Hybrid which encompasses the C220’s 2.2 litre diesel engine and incorporates a 20kw hybrid motor. This gives the C300 incredible fuel consumption of a claimed 3.9l per 100km!!! However this engine is not available just yet, so hybrid fans will just have to wait a little longer. Eager car fans will see that the online configurator is already up and running on Mercedes Benz Germany’s website. So go configure a C-class and share them with me. Everyone is allowed to dream 😉
Pricing of the new C-class starts at 33558 Euros which equates to roughly R475 000, next up the C200 costing 36414 Euros being R515 000, lastly the C220 BlueTec which will set you back 38675 Euros or R548 000. So quite pricey, hopefully Merc will throw in a few extras or lower the price when it arrives on local shores, but lets not expect to much. As usual the optional extras list is VAST and for the first time includes Merc’s AIRMATIC air suspension as well as the all LED headlights. As I mentioned in my previous post I am not a fan of the unpolished wood and as I’d hoped there are a wide array of interior options available, so personalization of a truly gorgeous cabin is possible.
In other automotive news BMW’s chief of the M-division wants a BMW M7 to be produced, however there are still no plans for a S63/65 AMG rival as of yet. Other BMW news includes the undisguised spy shots of the brand new FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, gasp, 2 series Active Tourer, which actually looks very smart, and should be a worthy challenger to the B-class. I have included the link below for you to go have a look, leave a comment as to what you think.
